Germany: Mannheim, an industrial city and its digital transition

The sMArt City Mannheim initiative was launched in 2016 and has since made the industrial city in Baden-Württemberg, southwest Germany, a pioneer in smart cities. The initiative is a collaboration between Mannheim, a city with a population of 312,000 and the birthplace of SAP, Europe's largest software company and the fourth largest in the world.
